Internet dangers: Awareness day on protection of children

An information and awareness day on the protection of children against Internet dangers opened Sunday in Algiers under the theme "protecting children in cyberspaces," in the presence of members of the Government and experts in the field.

• Representatives of national institutions, the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Algeria, Internet services, cybercafés, associations and the civil society also took part in the event.

• In his opening address, Minister of Postal Services and Information and Communication Technologies, Hamid Bessalah, pointed out that Internet, which helps to have direct and easy access to knowledge and to the world, has become an absolutely necessary tool in schools and universities, which increases significantly its regular and daily use by children.
