France: an Algeria fugitive extradited from Morocco
A prisoner of Algerian nationality who had escaped from a French prison in 2006 and was arrested in Morocco has been extradited to France and charged Monday for his escape, according to a judicial source.
- Hamed Bouzidi extradited from Morocco a few days ago, was brought before a magistrate in Cahors (south west) who meant he was charged, before being detained, said the same source.
He had escaped from Cahors’ prison on December 26 2006, hidden in a garbage container, and was arrested in late July 2008 in Casablanca.
He was sentenced in absentia by French courts to eight years in prison for drug trafficking in July 2007.
