18 Harraga arrested in Annaba
Eighteen Algerians Harraga to Europe have been arrested on the night of Monday to Tuesday, off Annaba, 600 km east of Algiers, by the Algerian coastguard, according to the Algerian press agency APS.
- These Algerian candidates for illegal emigration, aged between 19 and 37, were seized during a patrol of the coast guard off Annaba on their way back to the north shore of the Mediterranean aboard a crafted boat, the APS said quoting the Coast Guard commander.
Thirty-six illegal immigrants were rescued at sea last week off Annaba and 59 others were seized Monday off Oran (430 km west of Algiers) and Ghazaouet near Tlemcen (extreme West), according to the coastguard.
