Algerian wealthy people, the secret of success
Algeria is a young country run by a old men. Just take a walk in the administrations of the major companies in the country to discover the unchallenged domination of the old and the almost total absence of young people at the helm of these companies, whether they are public or private. Young people have realized that the world of finance and business is no longer based on work and knowledge but rather on authoritarianism, corruption and plunder.
- Omar Rebrab, CEO of Hyundai Motors Algeria
Known for his sincerity and frankness, Omar Rebrab, CEO of one of the most important representative of a commercial vehicle brand in Algeria “Hyundai”, told us about his experience in the world of investment and business. He was able to make a name as one of the young investors who have managed to run a modern company based on the international economic criteria and standards and skilled Algerian youth trained by Algerian universities.
Omar was educated on a regular basis. After his primary education (basic) in Algeria, he moved to France where he did his secondary school and university. He obtained his university degree in accounting and economic management before returning home where he was integrated into the world of work. He held positions as simple accounting in companies belonging to his father as well as some other activities until he found himself in the world of vehicles becoming the boss of the largest vehicle representative company in Algeria and managed to win awards as the best manager.
From his experience, Omar said “I did also other activities such as clerk for billing and even welder”, an activity which still makes him feel proud. He tells us that he had learned the welding at the company ‘Metal Sider’ which belonged to his father Isaâd Rebrab. Omar says he does not feel embarrassed to perform simple activities, being the son of a billionaire, wearing the welder’s clothes, glasses and mastering iron with the fire.
Rebrab also says that his company prefers to invest in young Algerian academics. “It is true that youth training is time consuming but it is an investment that pays off," he says.
According to Omar Rebrab, success is the result of the challenge and perseverance. These two characteristics that make a good investor in this world full of obstacles. Anyone who can not resist will not succeed.
Omar Rebrab told us that many people have tried to scupper him in his beginning, but he has resisted through his spirit of fighting. He even managed to make his company a leader in the field of vehicles in Algeria.
It is true that Rebrab Omar was inspired by the experience of his father who managed to build a fortune that is measured in billions of dollars and which had started in the country's independence with an accounting office. The latter also had been inspired by Asian models giant companies like Hyundai, which was in the beginning, a family company and became what it is now.
Djilali Mehri: My voice has the same weight as formal contracts
He was not formed in a large National or international Institute, but he knows the economic theories better than those who studied them. He acceded to the business world when he was only 16. He gradually gained ground with big ambitions and big dreams. He thought hard as iron and loved his country. These are the secret of his success as he said. The evidence is that he is a graduate of business in Algeria. During our interview, he often repeated this sentence, “the economic honour.” He says that the honour and reputation of the investor in the business world are very important because the investor works for years to honour his name and his family. He must be careful not to tarnish his name in the business world, being confidence in this world is necessary.
Djilali believe that wealth cannot be built by only one person but by collective efforts. A company needs the energy of youth, the experience of older workers; it also needs women and men. The business company is a real company that can not neglect a category.
Mr. Mehri feels proud of his support for the development of southern Departments of the country, mainly his native ‘El Oued.’ According to him, the businessmen and the rich must share their wealth with the poor. Wealth “belongs to God.” - He participates in charities and helps those patients requiring treatment abroad in addition to donations of medical equipment to hospitals in remote areas.
Abdelouahab Rahim, CEO of Dahli group
• The love of the investment in human resources is the secret of success
• Car and the prestige are not a sign of success
According to the director of the group Dahli Abdelouahab Mohamed Rahim, the only secret of success in the world of investment and wealth creation is clarity in business with people, love for the activity. The investor must choose the team that accompanies him in his projects as “one hand can not clap” as he says. The second factor is not to give importance to trivialities, such as running behind the prestige and squandering of money in cars, swimming pools and the good life as this is not true success. The real success is to build strong business with companies and create employment opportunities to the children of people to help develop the country's economy.
