According to reliable source from the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Algeria, an Algerian citizen, residing at the borders between Algeria and Morocco, precisely in the region of ...Lehdada,... in the department of Tlemcen, where the headquarters of the Consulate of Morocco are located, would have introduced in the headquarters of the Consulate with a large dagger in his hand.

  • The latter had managed to take hostage all officers in the visa service, all of Moroccan nationality, among them a German national who was in the same department to get his visa.

According to sources of Ennahar, the Algerian citizen would have entered the Consulate of Morocco in Algeria after several failed attempts before. He had tried to contact the Moroccan authorities to recover his lands that had been improperly taken.
  •
  • Previously, he had sought the intervention of the Algerian authorities in his case which opposes him to the Moroccan authorities, but the Algerian authorities' response was negative for the reason that they could not interfere in the internal affairs of Morocco.
  •
  • The man then decided to get into the Consulate of Morocco, yesterday morning, thwarting the attention of security officers and surprising officials at the visa department with a dagger. He threatened all the staff who was there that he would kill anyone who tried to alert security, and said he would not release them until he gets the commitment of the Ambassador of Morocco in Algeria to find a solution to his case.

According to our sources, the taking of Moroccan hostages, among them a German, lasted more than an hour, until the security services manage to stop the man after an encirclement of the premises around noon.

The Moroccan Embassy confirmed the incident but the consulate refused to give details. Ennahar tried to contact the official in charge of communication at the Embassy of Morocco, but the latter had left his office. One employee of the embassy did not deny the events at the Consulate of Morocco in Tlemcen without giving details. We then contacted the Consulate but it was the guard who responded, refusing to make statements as his position did not allow him to do. This latter advised us to contact the Consulate on Tuesday morning.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs didnt answer

Ennahar contacted the official in charge of communication at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs but the latter refused to make statements claiming to be in his car in at a security roadblock.

Kadri’s family was the victim of Moroccan envy and lost their land in Zouïa and Boukanoun.
