Algeria: priority to the Palestinians unity if Arab summit (MFA) held
Algeria is working to consolidate unity among the Palestinians in case an Arab summit is held, said Monday the foreign minister Mourad Medelci at the Algerian International Radio and quoted by the agency APS.
- If an Arab summit is held, "Algeria will first consolidate unity among Palestinians," said the minister.
"I think that within the Arab countries, we represent an example to the extent that we have never agreed to have economic or commercial relations with the Hebrew state," he said.
"Algeria has never had relations with Israel (...) because it believes in her principles and defends them," he added.
The emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, quoted Monday by the Qatari media, has called again for the holding of an extraordinary Arab summit on "aggression" by Israel against the Gaza Strip, which he called a "war crime".
Israel launched on 27 December a deadly air offensive against Hamas since Saturday evening followed by a ground offensive.
