Algiers- Many executive officers of the national security institution, of different grades and functions, have appeared before justice at the court session this year, for cases involving abuse of authority and forgery of documents.

  • These have mostly been cleared; leaving that the administration would have taken the necessary measures with its staff before resorting to justice, especially since the vast majority of defendants were cleared by the courts. For the others, they were sentenced to up to 10 years in prison.

    An administrative investigation was opened at the request of Colonel Tounsi, following a request by the former director of the university of the east of Algiers against the head of the security of Algiers "S" for abuse of power. The Inspector General had received a call from a person "M", allegedly being the secretary general, but the allegations were invalid and therefore the court acquitted the two seniors of national security.

    The Secretary General is a member of the International Police (Interpol), and in the eighties, he was seen as the youngest chief of the police.

    Several other senior security were also cleared in the case of embezzlement of 3200 billion from the Algerian National Bank (BNA), in which several executives were accused by the police, including the chief the security of the department of Tipaza who benefited from innocence.

    In the same context, the former director of the Higher School of Police in Châteauneuf, along with commissioners and inspectors of police appeared before the court in Sidi M'hamed for falsifying the results of a promotion competition. The court required the punishment of 10 years in prison against the school's director, eight, five and one year in prison for the remaining defendants. Note that the final verdict in this case will be pronounced tomorrow.

    Respondents have denied all charges against them. The head of the police school has called for a complementary investigation to get to the hidden truth, he said, by those who sent the anonymous letter to Colonel Tounsi. According to defendants, the letter could be written by professionals who have not been received in the contest.
