Algiers- The Union of national Education revealed that 97% of officials and workers in the education sector, i.e. 480,000 workers are denied the privileges of social work

  • The Union of national Education revealed that 97% of officials and workers in the education sector, i.e. 480,000 workers are denied the privileges of social work and benefits provided by the education sector, as against 150,000 staff and workers only who have benefited, i.e. 3% over 500,000 workers throughout the national territory.

According to the union, billions of Dinars are spent annually in tourist visits to Turkey and Malaysia and care in private clinics.

According to the charged with communication at the national council of teachers of secondary and technical (Cnapest), Messaoud Boudiba, in a statement to Ennahar, the institution would have received many complaints from teachers and officials of national education sector. These complaints are related to the unfair and inequitable management of privileges and benefits by the National Commission for Social Work.
  •
  • The latter specified that the social works have become a social nightmare for them, although they are supposed to be fair to the thousands of workers and officials of the education sector in their role of protecting them financially and morally.

On the other hand, according to the charged of communication at the Cnapest, the latest statistics by the Cnapest show that only 3% of workers in the education sector benefited from the advantages and privileges, among them people from outside the sector of education who had advantage of travel and stay in tourist centers, rest family, welfare, sports, cultural activities, national and international cultural exchanges, consumer cooperatives and land cooperatives.

97% of education workers are completely deprived of social work; many even ignore its existence.

Travel in Turkey and Malaysia held irregularly

Our contact tells us that the social work is often limited to the organization of tourist trips to countries such as Tunisia, Malaysia and Turkey, the establishment of contracts with private clinics for care, while many workers suffer from chronic illness and are unable to get close to such clinics. Festivals and celebrations are held; awards are distributed blowing billions of dinars particularly as the government spends each year mainly for large envelopes to help workers and officials of the sector financially and morally.

Social works: the bag of shame

For its part, the Secretary General of the National Union of Education Workers, Mr Abdelkrim Boudjenah said the bags are distributed each year to teachers are "bags of shame". These bags, he said, are of very poor quality, yet they are distributed on the basis of acquaintances...! Satchels acquired with funds of Social Work which go to people who have no relationship with the education sector. The latter adds that the social works in some departments of the country are frozen.
