Algeria: a new case of swine flu identified

ALGIERS- a new case of influenza A (H1N1) was detected in Algeria, in an infant of 14 months, bringing to 20 the number of cases in the country, announced Monday the Ministry of Health.

  •     The virus was detected on 5 August by the Pasteur Institute of Algeria (IPA) in the child, said the ministry quoted by the press agency APS.

        None of the twenty cases reported so far has presented a severe form of the disease and no deaths were found, the agency stressed.

        Three cases of the influenza A/H1N1 were confirmed on August 5 also by the IPA on a couple who arrived from Spain and a man of 42 who came from the United Kingdom.

        The first case was detected on 20 June.
