Wealthy Algerians: « We help the poor, but ... in secret!
Algiers- While Algiers, the white capital became the capital of beggars and vagabonds, rich Algerian claim to do charity secretly. Throughout the world, including Arab countries wealthy people jostle for charities, where prizes are awarded for the best social and humanitarian works, such as the "El Kassim" prize in Saudi Arabia or the "Al Nahayan" prize in the United Arab Emirates.
- These countries rely heavily on charities for the reactivation of development in remote areas, where it is one of the factors that help build the society through humanitarian initiatives of citizens. What is certain is that the wealthy class in these countries largly contributes to the well being of their societies, while Algiers became the capital of beggars. So the question that comes to mind is: why is there no competition for charities in Algeria?
Is it because the wealthy Algerians gives with the right hand what the left hand does not see?
To learn more, we interviewed some of them.
• Ould Abbas to Ennahar: « rich Algerians refuse to disclose their identities. »
According to the minister of national solidarity, family and the Algerian community abroad, Djamel Ould Abbas, the Algerian rich contribute in aid provided to poor and needy in Algeria but they refuse to reveal their identities. "We found that the majority of wealthy Algerians who give aid to the poor and needy families prefer to remain anonymous. We found that long, since it is impossible to know the identity of the charitable people who generally contribute by making donations of food which are sent either directly to needy families or throught the department that handles the distribution to these families."
According to Ould Abbas, contacted by telephone yesterday, the reasons behind the lack of association of wealthy who care for the poor is due to the state policy on this type of case, before adding: "The philosophy of the state is based on the principles of the first of November and the first and last word in regard to needy families comes back to the state." "The emergence of such associations would diminish the role of the state in protecting citizens ... but this does not mean the exclusion of individuals with regard to such initiatives. These people are welcome but they must know that the first and last word comes back to the state. "
As regards the aid received by the Ministry of Solidarity, Family and the Algerian community abroad, Ould Abbas declared that a part is sent to the municipalities and Assemblies of wilayas while the rest is distributed over centers and the 650 restaurants that exist throughout the national territory. The annual expenditure budget of aid for the benefit of needy and poor families is between 15 and 20 billion dinars.
Isaad Rabrab, the boss of Cevital:
"The Hajj is here in Algeria, no need to go to Mecca!
Isaad Rebrab, or the richest business man in Algeria lived with his wife in a two-room flat. Today he lives in a palace! He participates in charities throughout the year in secret, without anyone knowing, and this because our religion teaches us that. We insist and Cevital CEO tells us how he contributes to charity work in general without going into details. "For those who want to perform Hajj, they can do it here in Algeria before moving on to Mecca. "Helping the poor is somehow equivalent to Hajj. Why we do not help these poor families and those who are in need here in our country. "
At first sight, it seems that Mr Rebrab the businessman ignores everything concerning religion, but the reality is different. Rebrab has an entire department responsible for charities throughout the year. The activities are doubling every event or religious holiday. Our motto is citizenship, solidarity, respect and good of the country. You should know that we are doing everything to ensure that aid goes directly to those truly in need. As for those who require aid charities, their aid is sent by this means even if they live in the farthest point in the country.
