Algiers- The national gendarmerie services have arrested 42 people, most of them false "senior officers" of the army, fake Secret Service agents and false judges who have offered their services, using their influences in administrations in order to resolve problems of housing, job and national service.
- Many victims have paid large sums of money to, either purchase a home, have a job or get an exemption card of national service. Young people have paid cash on fingernail 50 Million cents to a false senior officer in the army for the famous "yellow card". Some of these false senior officers also use this means to get married in the province of Tlemcen, where the gendarmerie national group arrested a false gendarmerie commander in special border police who wanted to convince the family of his fiancee to marry him, since many families dream of marrying their daughters to military officers.
According to a report prepared by the communication unit of the command of the gendarmerie, of which Ennahar holds a copy, the phenomenon of false professional identities is in full growth in the society. This is encouraged by citizens, victims of unscrupulous people for whom all means are justified to achieve their nefarious plans.
Most surprising, the report of the Gendarmerie reveals that the phenomenon in question affects mainly the military field. It begins to affect also other sensitive institutions of the state. It is a crime related to forgery and embezzlement. One of the most serious cases in this sense would be treated by the research team within the gendarmerie group of Ourgla after the discovery of the fake doctor who possesses a clinic and works with foreign companies. The latter works since 1994 with a fake diploma and no one was able to discover him. Worse than that, the authorities have granted him the permission to open a private clinic.
The investigation revealed that the respondent worked in 1991 as an officer at the Institute of Medicine in Annaba. He falsified a diploma and began working in 1994 as a general practitioner with a foreign oil company in Hassi Messaoud. Then he received from the Department of Health approval to open a private clinic in 1998 in Hassi Messaoud. He has signed contracts of employment with a British company and two U.S. companies and an Algerian company with whom he worked for 11 years. Investigators found a fake diploma in his clinic.
In Constantine, a false judge was arrested. The latter made his victims believe he was public prosecutor in the court of El Oued and managed to extract the sum of 389 million centimes against his regularization of their problem of merchandise seized.
In Oran, another fake public prosecutor claimed he could solve housing problems for his victims. He managed to steal 900,000 DA and an important quantity of jewellery.
