Bordj Bou Arrérridj: Five dead bodies of terrorists found in a stronghold of Al-Qaeda
ALGIERS - Five dead terrorist were discovered Saturday by the military in a terrorist stronghold in Bordj Bou Arrérridj (220 km east of Algiers), according to reports of the press Sunday.
- The five bodies were found in the forest of Bougaten during a sweep of the terrorist stronghold in the region suspected of sheltering elements of the former Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat (GSPC), renamed in 2006 Army Branch of Al-Qaeda in Islamic Maghreb (AQIM).
According to the Algerian press, the region of Bordj Bou Arreridj is a transit area for groups affiliated with Al-Qaeda in Islamic Maghreb to go in different neighbouring provinces.
On June 17, eighteen policemen and three civilians were killed near Bordj Bou Arreridj in an attack on a convoy.
Since the army has launched numerous operations in several regions to comb the bush refuge where hide terrorist groups after their attacks, with thousands of men supported by artillery and helicopter gunships.
