Nine Harragas intercepted off Ghazaouet
ALGIERS - Nine Algerian Harragas (candidates for illegal emigration to Europe) were intercepted at dawn on Monday off the coast of Ghazaouet in the extreme west of Algeria, while trying to reach Spain, announced the Algerian coast guard.
- Aged between 23 and 29, they were intercepted by a unit of the Algerian coastguard at 03:00 am (02:00 GMT) off a beach in Ghazaouet near Tlemcen, 540 km west of Algiers, said the Coastguard.
They had sailed aboard a small boat, the source said.
On Sunday, the Coast Guard had intercepted seventeen Algerians potential migrants off the coast of Oran, the largest metropolis west of the country. - Ennaharonline/APS
