Sheikh Abdelfattah: former GSPC leaders and Algerian preachers will soon realize national reconciliation
Algiers- according to Sheikh Abdelfattah, one of the most important Algerian Salafis, a group of Algerian Ulema and preachers and former heads of the Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat (GSPC), are conducting talks with leaders of armed groups in the terrorist organization led by Abdelmalek Droukdal to find a way to permanently eradicate terrorism.
- • What do you think about the issue of “blood jurisprudence” (fiqh eddem) which has taken a serious turn after Droukdal has questioned Sheikh El Maqdisi about the blood of Algerians?
I can not discuss this issue at this time because the question of “jurisprudence of blood” is so important. This is not a simple question that can be discussed by anyone. For this, one would rather see what the great Ulama, known for their moderation and discipline, say, as it is a very complex issue. In addition, I myself and a group of Ulema and preachers are preparing for a general reconciliation, which would affect all the Algerian people and this, with the participation of those who preach the Jihadist ideology in Algeria, like Hassan Hattab and others. We are conducting contacts with those who are still in the bush to find a solution that would help to return to stability in the country and leave the shell of fatwas in which struggling people who are not suitable.
• What about these talks and contacts? Do you think you will get positive results?
Discussions have reached very advanced stages and we think we can agree on essential points that will allow eliminating terrorism permanently. Algeria will then know, inchallah, a big festivity. The idea has met great support from great Ulema and preachers, in addition to former heads of the Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat (GSPC) who have left armed activities. These contacts are maintained with those who remained in the bush, which allows to reach an approximation of ideas and to reach final solutions to the crisis.
• What do you think of fatwas that allow shedding of Muslim blood?
Shedding of Muslim blood is forbidden in all Muslim countries and the discourse of those who approach this subject, apart from the great Ulema and preachers are full of doubts, gaps and inconsistencies. We must resort to dialogue and try to find a solution that suits all parties and which would be in the interest of Algeria. Personally, I think this topic should be approached with great care because these are the lives of Muslims.
