Swine flu: 11 new cases confirmed in Algeria
ALGIERS- Eleven new influenza A (H1N1) confirmed cases have been announced by the ministry of Health, Population and Hospital Reform, raising the total number of affected people to 133.
- The concerned cases include six in Blida, a 28-year-old woman that returned recently from Belgium and five men (a 35-year-old Algerian and four Chinese nationals respectively aged 34, 43,46 and 47), all of whom had been in contact with a swine flu affected case.
- According to the ministry, a 77-year-old man from the province of Chlef, who arrived lately from Marseille (France), is among the announced cases as well as a woman aged 27, who returned recently to Algiers from Morocco.
- Three cases have been confirmed in Beni Saf (province of Ain Temouchent) and concern an 11-year-old boy and two girls aged 7.The medical measures provided for in the national plan for the fight against the swine flu (A/H1N1) pandemic have been launched, underlined Health ministry, adding that epidemiological investigations carried on.
- All the cases are "currently hospitalized," under close medical supervision.
- Specific measures concerning school children have also been taken, the source underlined.
- The statement added that the 24 people admitted to hospital last week are in a satisfactory state of health, pointing out that all people that had been previously affected left, after being treated, the concerned services where they were hospitalized.
