Dismantling of two terrorist cells in Berraki
Algiers- combined security forces conducted the day before yesterday a vast search operation in the capital, the first of its kind since several years.
- The elements of the army, assisted by gendarmes, police and patriots in the regions of “Ouled Allal” and “Drichmou” in “Sidi Moussa,” west of the capital and in “Oued El Harrach” up to “Ben Talha” in “Berraki.”
This security operation came following the dismantling of terrorist cells in two separate operations several days ago.
In addition, five young men from Berraki have recently disappeared in ambiguous terms. According to investigations, they would have joined terrorist groups within "Abu Bakr Esseddik” section, the Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat (GSPC), led by Abdelmalek Droukdal, alias Abu Mosaab Abdelouadoud. These five young men, one of whom was denounced by his father, had joined terrorism when the police started investigating after the dismantling of the two sleeping cells south of the capital.
According to confirmed sources of Ennahar, security services succeeded to arrest four people from the neighbourhoods of Berraki, while others are still subject of research.
Droukdal attempts to revive terrorism in the capital and its surroundings, through the reactivation of this section (Katibat) and the designation of the named Mohammed Seddouki, known as "Abdelkader Erroudji" expert in explosives, as Emir of this section after joining back Droukdal’s group few months after his release.
The same sources do not exclude the fact that Droukdal’s group had planned to recruit them in terrorist operations immediately after involving them in supporting cells.
Houdeifa Abu Younes El Assimi, alias "Houdeifa el-Jund,” Emir of the second zone (central region), tried to reactivate the cell of recruitment and support in his native region (Berraki), where belongs also the new recruits. He would also target the former fighters who return back from Iraq after they had failed to join the Iraqi resistance.
