World cup 2010: Mubarak’s son accused Algerians of “terrorism”
CAIRO - The eldest son of Egyptian President Mubarak, Alaa, described the Algerian supporters as “mercenaries”; and accused them of “terrorists”; after the incidents that took place in Khartoum last Wednesday on the sidelines of qualification for the World Cup won by Algeria on the expense of Egypt.
- The son of President Hosni Mubarak, who attended with his brother Gamal the defeat (1-0) Wednesday in Khartoum; of the “Pharaohs” against the “Fennecs”, also suggested that his country would complain to FIFA to protest acts of intimidation against the Egyptian team, reported Friday the government agency Mena.
- The Egyptian team was confronted with acts of “terrorism before, during and after the game,” he said, describing the Algerian supporters of “mercenaries”. Mena said that Mr Mubarak made the comments Thursday during a sports broadcast. “There is something strange in Algeria. A mixture of malice and resentment against Egypt,” he said, asserting that Egypt had never previously had problems with other Arab countries.
- Many Egyptians denounced since Wednesday the alleged assault of Egyptian fans by Algerian fans in Khartoum. This play-off match intervened four days after the Egyptian victory (2-0) in Cairo against Algeria. Before the match, the bus of the Algerian selection had been targeted by stones thrown by Egyptian fans, who had wounded three Algerian players.
- Egyptian authorities and officials of sport have programmed and put into practice a conspiracy against the Algerian national team.
- It's a real trap in which fell the Algerian team players, leaders and supporters who have only just escaped a mass murder planned and operated by fans mounted and encouraged by some officials and particularly the media. Things have degenerated and the serious incidents of such events are to become an international affair.
“It is a shame to be greeted this way in a so-called Muslim country. They promised us security and all necessary conditions, but what we experienced was beyond hell. The Egyptians have planned a conspiracy before the match and began with the attack against the bus and several players were injured. They succeeded in their plot. This case begins to take on international dimensions and will affect relations between the two countries,” says Raouraoua. - The Egyptian media are leading a dirty weak and cowardly war through their TV channels (Mehwar, al-Misria, Nile TV etc) against the Algerian people. All days long, Egyptians pour their hatred, detestation, antipathy and extreme dislike towards the Algerian people.
- They now show their real face; a face which was hidden, as a mummy, behind their legendary hypocrisy, insincerity, pretense and arrogance. The Algerians have succeeded to break down this arrogance!
