Swine flu: Eleven new cases confirmed in Algeria

ALGIERS- Eleven new cases of A/H1N1 influenza were confirmed Thursday by the Health Ministry, bringing the total number of reported cases to 168 nationwide.

  • Four cases were diagnosed in Algiers on a 58-year old man who has recently returned from China, a young man aged 22 coming from Egypt, a 21-year old man who has been in contact with a suspected case and a 42-year old woman returning from Spain.

  • Another case was reported in Setif province (300-km east of Algiers) on a 30-year old woman living in France and on a visit to Algeria, in addition to three cases diagnosed in Tizi-ouzou (100-km from Algiers) on a young woman and her two sisters aged 16 and 14 coming from France.A case was reported in Constantine (431-km east of Algiers) on a 51-year old man, and another in Laghouat (400-km south of Algiers) on a 25-year old woman who has recently come from the United States of America, and a on 9-year old girl in Beni Saf (Ain Temouchent, west of Algiers).

  • The ministry also assured that all medical and health measures provided in the national plan against A/H1N1 pandemic have been initiated for all reported cases.
