Swine flu: 18 new cases confirmed in Algeria

ALGIERS- Eighteen new cases of influenza A / H1N1 have been confirmed Sunday, bringing to 186 the total number of cases registered so far in Algeria, said Sunday Health Ministry in a statement.

  • There are six cases in Algiers composed of a 15-year-old teen recently arrived from overseas, another aged 19, a young man aged 21; three boys aged 15, 14 and 10, and a daughter aged 11.

  • The statement said five cases were reported in Constantine with two young women aged 27 and 22, a 15-year-old girl, a 8 year old girl and a boy aged 9, all detected by a sentinel.
  • Two other cases have been reported in Setif. The affected person is a 26 year old woman and her sister aged 18 who were in contact with their sister already diagnosed positive, said the source.

  • Another case was reported in Tizi Ouzou on a 15-year-old teenager, affected due contact with his brother already confirmed positive, the statement said.
