Swine flu virus brought from Egypt and Sudan by the fans

Algiers- in a statement, the Ministry of Health, Population and Hospital Reform reported 18 new confirmed cases infected with A H1N1 swine influenza, bringing the number of cases in the country until today to 186 cases.

  • There are six cases in Algiers: a 15-year-old boy who returned recently from abroad, two young men 19 and 21 years as well as three other children aged 10, 14 and 15 and a girl of 11.

    The release of the Ministry of Health added that five other cases have been recorded in Constantine. Four girls aged 22, 27, 15 and 8, and a child of 9 who have been confirmed.

    Moreover, according to the Ministry of Health, cases of individuals recently returned from Egypt and Sudan have been detected. Three of them were detected in Oran, a woman of 26, a teenager of 14, recently returned from Egypt and a man aged 36 who returned from Sudan.

    Two cases have been recorded in Setif. This is a 26 year old woman and her sister aged 18 who were in contact with their sister.

    Another case was detected in Tizi Ouzou on a 15-year-old boy who was also in contact with his brother. And another was recorded in Laghouat, a 43-year-old man who recently returned from the United States.

    The statement said that health measures of the national plan to fight against swine influenza have been taken and investigations are underway regarding the development of this pandemic.

    The relevant departments of the hospital el Kettar have been invaded by people who have had symptoms of swine flu such as fever and fatigue. Fearful of being infected with influenza A H1N1, they went to hospital for tests. The majority were supporters who made the trip to Egypt and Sudan to support the national team against Egypt for the match in Cairo November 14 then the play-off match in Khartoum on the 18th of that month.

    In addition to the fans who have returned from Egypt and Sudan, there were also high school students, like "Alexandre Dumas" international school in Ben Aknoun and "Descartes" high school in El Mouradia where, after
    two cases were suspected, it was panic which caught the remaining students.
