Saadane was a recruit to go fight in Egypt against Israel
The reader may not believe this information about the national coach Rabah Saadane. The latter should be sent to Egypt to support the Arab armies against Zionists. Saadane was a candidate, ready to go fight Israel in Egypt with his brothers in case he would be summoned.
- Saadane, the miracle man, the good, is now the victim of insults and humiliations, from those for whom he would have fought bravely, because he has succeeded, through his expertise, to beat pharaohs home in a football match.
It was July 15, 1967, when the student Rabah Saadane, the son of the Aures, has been summoned him and his colleagues while they were at Hihi Mekki High school in Constantine, to join the ranks of reservist soldiers. Rabah was very shy but he was also the genius of his class. He earned his Baccalaureate with honours.
Rabah awaited the call of duty to join his compatriots in Egypt, who fought the Zionists alongside the Arab armies. He joined the National School of Marine of Tamenfoust in Ain Taya. He was with El Hachemi Bouandel currently an advisor to the Ministry of Water Resources, and Ali Chelghoum physician in addition to many youth from the province of Batna who joined the school of Tamenfoust the same day.
At 19, he was reserve soldier
Mr Bouandel; a friend of Saadane said he had met the latter in their recruitment. Saadane, an excellent football player in the Mouloudia of Constantine was well known. It was in 1945. The day they joined the School of Marine of Tamenfoust, they had their heads shaved and spent all day laughing by teasing each other. Rabah was 19 and he was very happy to be in the group. "We were nationalist," says Bouandel before adding "and we were ready to sacrifice ourselves for the nation, to help our brothers the Egyptian."
Saadane never quits his ball
"We lived happy days. Life was full of joy, love and solidarity. We met in difficult conditions but life was good. The barrack life was very similar to the boarding school. Saadane was very shy, quiet and energized at the same time. Everyone estimated and respected him because he was an excellent footballer. He was sociable and had many excellent qualities and a very good education. We were four, I (El Hachemi) Saadane, Chelghoum and the fourth I've forgotten the name. We were one team and spend the day together. We woke up at four o'clock in the morning to do sport exercises. Saadane only thought of football that he loved and still loves until now. After breakfast, have join the army rally and later we go to the class. In the evening, after classes, we do our favourite pastime and Rabah plays with his ball for hours. The barrack life was beautiful and we were ready to leave for Egypt with this very strong sense of nationalism."
Rabah Saadane was an excellent swimmer
Mr Bouandel recounts his memories and the 45 days he spent with Saadane. "We spent 45 days (all days, from July 15 to August 31 we used to speak only about football, teams and clubs. Saadane had played in first division, he played in MOC at the time of Zefzaf, and Sofiane Abdennour, and then he joined El Biar and Blida and taught at the Higher Technical Institute of Sport (ISTS)." he added "during the 45 days spent together, we were trained by officers of high level, all graduates abroad. Sometimes we go to the sea and Saadane was a very good swimmer but he preferred football. We spent wonderful days together; unforgettable days” - Ennahar/ Dalila Belkheir
