President Bouteflika performs Eid Al-Adha prayer at Algiers Grand Mosque

Algiers- President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika performed Friday morning Eid Al-Adha prayer at the Grand Mosque of Algiers among numerous worshippers, amid an atmosphere of piety and serenity.

• Senior State officials as well as members of government and diplomatic corpses from Muslim countries accredited in Algiers performed the prayer with the head of State. In his sermons, the imam said Eid Al-Adha is an opportunity for Muslims to pray, ask pardon, praise All-Powerful God and perpetuate the tradition of Prophet Ibrahim El Khalil (Abraham) who submitted to the will of the Lord.

• The imam urged Muslim Ummah to unite and ban division and resentment. He also stressed the importance of visits among families on the Eid day.

• The joy shown by Algerian people following national football team's victory reflects the love of their country, the imam said, wishing that such a feeling be a stimulus for national building.
