His Excellency the Ambassador of Angola in Algeria, E. Arminio declared that his country is ready to host the African Cup of Nations (CAN) to be held in the capital Luanda from January 10 to February 10. Algeria will take part in this continental competition in the first group which includes the host country, Malawi and Mali.
- • Ennahar: How things are going on with the preparations for this great event which will start in a few days?
Ambassador of Angola: everything is well and we are ready. In fact, we are pleased to welcome our guests. We also promise that everything will be up to this continental event.
• People say that life is very expensive in Angola. Some compare life in this country to rich countries in Europe. Did your government think of making reductions to the fans who will travel in your country?
Of course, we work in this direction and we will try to work together to ensure that prices are reasonable on this occasion. The Government has given instructions in order to facilitate the mission for all the visitors and of course the fans who will certainly be very numerous.
• What about security of fans, especially in case there would be a match between Algeria and Egypt, to avoid that Cairo scenario happens again?
There will be no such problems. We have taken all preventive measures to avoid overflow. We have provided all means to prevent slippage or clashes between supporters. We promise you that the Africa Cup in Angola will take place in very good condition because we have taken all necessary measures to avoid any incident.
• What would you advise to fans wishing to travel to Angola, at a time when infectious diseases spread?
First of all the visitors who will travel to Angola in group or individually, must have at their disposal their vaccine booklets, otherwise they will be vaccinated upon arrival in Angola. In any case, we have no fear because we are accustomed to this kind of situation in Africa. I would say to all those who will go to Angola there will be no problem in terms of accommodation, catering and even vaccine. Everything is available and we are very well prepared.
• Do you have an idea on the number of Algerian fans who will travel to Angola? Can you give us the figure in terms of visa applications?
Until now, Algeria has made no application for a visa. There are formal institutions only and we facilitated the mission regarding the visa. There will be a group visa, including a different price for the regular visa reached 6500 DA. Algerians can be directed to travel agencies to buy the ticket and apply for a visa.
• Have you programmed any cultural and artistic activities to publicize your traditions and customs?
Of course, there are many activities. Everyone knows that Africa is rich in tradition and customs. There will be activities for visitors, you'll be surprised.
• What advice would you give, excellence, to Algerian fans who will go to Angola?
I tell them they are welcome, and be sure that Angola will be your second country. We have a shared history that binds us, and I promise you there will be no problem even if Algeria and Egypt meet. I am sure, however, that a peace treaty will be concluded in Luanda.
• Who do you want the team to meet Angola in final qualifying event? And what are the teams who will reach the finals in you opinion?
(Smiles) Of course I would not wish my country meets Algeria which is a very strong team. Finally, all the qualified teams are strong and excellent. We have plenty of time ahead, but there are many teams qualified for the World Cup which participate in the CAN, I only hope that our team will not have to meet Algeria in the finals.
