Swine flu: 5 new deaths, 746 cases confirmed in Algeria

Algeria- Five new deaths relating to swine flu (A/H1N1) have been recorded in Algeria, bringing the total number of deadly cases to 47 among 746 affected people, the ministry of Health, Population and Hospital Reform disclosed Thursday in a report on the epidemiological situation of the disease.

• The death toll for the period from 26 to 31 December stood at 59 new cases including five deaths, concerning a 26-year-old man residing in Mahmal (Khenchla province), admitted to hospital for respiratory distress, a 55-year-old man residing in Boufarik (Blida), hospitalized for severe respiratory distress, and who had been suffering from heart disorder and treated for type 2 diabetes, underlined the ministry's report.
