Morocco/ Polisario: discussions
The Polisario Front representative at the United Nations, Ahmed Bakhari said yesterday that the new UN envoy to Western Sahara, Christopher Ross will com next week in the region to continue discussions between Morocco and the Polisario front on the future of the Sahara.
- He adds that Mr. Ross will be travelling first to Morocco to discuss with the leaders of this country before meeting the Secretary General of the Polisario Front Mohamed Abdelaziz in on 21 February Tindouf where the Sahraoui refugees live for over three decades.
Mr. Bakhari said that Ross will then travel to Algeria and Mauritania. He added that Mr. Ross will investigate the possibilities for pursuing the dialogue after the four rounds held between Morocco and the Polisario Front in New York under UN auspices and which did not yield any results.
Mr. Bakhar further states "it is a matter that concerns the right to self-determination in the context of decisions of international security" indicating that the last word in it amounts to only people of Western Sahara.
