Ban on import and marketing of « Toyota Station » vehicles

Algiers- The measure now taken by the Ministry of Commerce, for security reasons, especially that such vehicle is widely used by smuggling groups and terrorists in Algeria.

  • The Ministry of Commerce has decided to ban imports of Japanese vehicles such as "Toyota Land Cruiser" on all the national territory, whereas, for the acquisition of other types of all-terrain vehicles, it will be subjected to very strict conditions and this for purely security reasons.
    According to a source at the Company "Toyota Algeria" which confirms the information, the acquisition of the other vehicles Land Cruiser remains regular, with the exception of the Land Cruiser 70" known in Algeria under the name "Toyota Station", following the government's decision to ban its import and marketing in Algeria. Requests for acquisition of such vehicles will be submitted to studies with regard to large companies and businesses.
    according to the same source, this measure comes under the decision of the Algerian authorities for security reasons only, this type of vehicles is particularly prized by terrorist groups and drug lords in southern Algeria.
    Land Cruiser or Toyota Station is an ideal means of transport for terrorists and drug traffickers for its power and its adaptation to land and landforms of the region.

I hope this does not apply to Nissan Navara pickups fitted with a demountable motorhome.
