The series of scandals continue to pursue the mobile phone operator (OTA) Orascom Telecom Algeria, which has detained more than 60% of the Algerian market, ignoring the rules of investment in Algeria. These latter require from foreign investors not to access the rate of 45%. OTA was conducting suspicious transactions both inside and outside the country. It is sued by several parties including the Bank of Algeria. In addition to this, OTA used Algeria funds in partnership with a Jewish society in order to maintain "Djezzy" at the top of the telecommunications market in Algeria.

  • With regard to the doubtful cooperation abroad, our informed sources have indicated that the operator Orascom Telecom Algeria "property of the Egyptian Saouris would be bound to a Jewish society, according to a report of the main society in Egypt. The latter had purchased in December 2005 the shares of a value estimated at the equivalent of 14% of the Israeli telecommunications company and, with funds of Djezzy in Algeria. Djezzy whose license is only $ 700 million, would have transferred after three years of existence in Algeria the equivalent of one billion 100 million cents as the number of formal transfer document presented by this operator. The exact amount of illegally transferred continues.

The Bank of Algeria has taken legal action in this direction after it was clear that this operator has transferred funds of its Algerian project with the Jewish society while the Algerian state prohibits any cooperation with the Hebrew state.

Djezzy immediately sold his shares in the Jewish company after two years of gains that he then used in Algeria in an illegal way and without being subject to competition rules, thus doubling its incomes.

Investigations have been led by committees and other by the finance service. This has led the operator to use a Lebanese advertising agency as well as some of the press and media to exert pressure on higher authorities of the state.

Before coming to Algeria, Djezzy was part of the company "Oratel”, based in the Virgin Islands of the United Kingdom, and known in financial circles as a basis for money laundering.

Illegal actions of this operator do not stop there, it has repeatedly defied the Algerian state and its decisions, such as the ARTP he had not even consulted even once during the period of its existence in Algeria.

Despite the warnings of the board of the state, particularly through Decision No. 6-14-11-8 on pricing on the communications and the 'Allo OTA” service, which was removed recently from the market and which fixed the price of 2.99 for 30 seconds and has caused great losses to the other competitors on the Algerian market.

Hassan Kebbani was dismissed from his post as first head of Orascom Telecom Algeria in a doubtful way. According to one of our sources, this decision taken by Saouris came to prevent the head of Djezzy in Algeria lawsuits and problems with the Algerian authorities, after what was said behind the scenes on the large sums of money transferred abroad by official of Djezzy.

According to sources close to the mobile operator in Algeria "Mobilis", this latter had an urgent meeting this week with its rival Djezzy to find a formula to hinder the new service "Free" proposed by Nedjma , which was a craze among customers. Considered a strategic alliance to counter "Nedjma” new programme. This latter calls for a balanced market for its own benefit and that of mobiles. Mobilis which seems to apply the saying "An old enemy is better than a new friend"
