Criminal court of Biskra: Sentences of 10 to 20 years in prison against armed Islamists
An armed Islamist was sentenced Saturday to ten years imprisonment by the criminal court of Biskra (425 km east of Algiers), which also gave sentences of 20 years imprisonment in absentia against three of his accomplices, "said the Algerian agency APS.
- Saad Salmi was captured in June 2008 after a clash that had erupted between the police and the four occupants of a car who refused to stop at a checkpoint.
Kamel Kir, Omar Rabhi and Youcef Boussaad, who had managed to escape, were sentenced in absentia to 20 years in prison for belonging to a terrorist network.
