The General Union of Algerian Workers (UGTA) was able to finalize all agreements on the increases rate in wages, subject of lengthy negotiations between the social partners in different sectors, which varies between 10 and 53% in favor of workers of the Public Service whose number is estimated more than 1.5 million workers.

  • Twenty sectors will be affected by these increases, following the signing of 84 partial agreements, under which the average increases for the public sector is 23% after four months of negotiations, from January to April 2010. The average increases in is 25%.
  • 25% increase for the sector of post and telecommunications
  • The workers of the post and telecommunications sector will benefit from an increase of 25%. This will affect workers in both Algeria Post and Algeria Telecom, i.e. a value of 18,000 dinars, raising salaries between 14,000 and 64,000 dinars.
  • The health sector will benefit from an increase between 15 and 53%.
  • 16 and 20% for pension insurance.
  • The rate of increase in the allowance system for workers of social insurance between is of 16 and 20%, divided as follows: the national agency of employment 16%, the National Fund of Social Insurance 20%, the National Pension Fund 20 % CASNOS 20%, the national fund for unemployment insurance 20% national fund paid leave and unemployment in the sector of Public Works and Water 20%, national fund for compensation of social works 20%.
  • The increase in salaries of the National Office of Facilities for disabled people is still under study.
  • Between 10 and 25% increase for workers in local government. Workers at the holding company east and southeast 19% and 20% for company of management and participation (center), and 25% for the west.
  • Management companies and pharmaceutical participation, the rate of increase is 30%.
  • The local government workers in the province of Algiers will benefit from 25% increase. This concerns workers of Net Com - Asrout, EMUCI, urban transport, street lighting, development of green spaces company, the national cemetery management, the association for commerce protection, coastal protection company in the province of Algiers, the Office of Parks for entertainment and sports in the province of Algiers.
  • Increases of 10 and 20% for Unions organization workers and 8-25% for workers in textiles and leather.
  • Increases up to 14,000 dinars for the employees of the company for management and participation and 40% increase for the housing sector.
  • Workers in the energy and mining sector will have their salaries increased to 12.000 and 17.000 dinars, while workers in food industries will benefit from increases of 5 and 25%.
  • Sid Said to Ennahar: "These increases are the result of economic and social contract"
  • The secretary general of the UGTA, Abdelhamid Said Sid said that increases in pensions and compensation are the result of the economic and social contract that resulted in significant improvments in those decisions affecting 20 sectors with more than one million employees.
  • The head of the Union has indicated in a statement to Ennahar that discussions between the social partners have allowed the improvement of living conditions of workers by taking the decision of wage increases.
