Any officer who loses his weapon will be prosecuted

Algiers- The Director General of National Security, General Abdelghani El Hamel sent a telegram to all services and security authorities, on measures to be taken against any police officer who would be subject weapon loss.
- These will be prosecuted in case of loss of their weapons, contrary to what was done before when they were presented before the Disciplinary Board. The Director general of National Security announced that the National Security Directorate will take harsh measures.
- According to security sources of Ennahar, the instruction transmitted by General El Hamel a few days ago to all his services is already in force. Any police officer, whatever his rank, will henceforth be responsible for his weapon.
- This new measure was taken following numerous cases of loss of service weapons. The Director general of the National Security insists, through his direction, on the fact that in the event of loss of service weapon, the officer will be prosecuted according to law.
- The Directorate General of National Security had already taken stringent measures to control weapons of all police officers. The latter carries out monthly checks of weapons and ammunition and defines their use. Inspections are made unexpectedly in order to check the status of weapons.
