Aviation: Air Algeria on track to avoid the blacklist of the EU

Air Algeria is on track to avoid its inclusion on the blacklist of airlines banned from flying in EU airspace, but should "continue its efforts," said Tuesday the European Commission.

  •    "Air Algeria had received a warning in July and had been ordered to act quickly to resolve reported problems. Its leaders have convinced the Commission on November 10 that things are on track," said Helen Kearns, Spokeswoman of the Transport Commissioner Siim Kallas on the occasion of the presentation of the 16th update of the blacklist of airlines banned from flying in the EU.
  •    "A technical assistance mission to the EU will visit Algeria in February to check it," she said.
  •    "The problems are not entirely resolved, but the evidence provided by officials of Air Algeria are not negligible," she insisted.
  •    Inclusion on the blacklist of the EU means the prohibition of flights for aircraft companies concerned.
  •    The European Union has banned Tuesday all companies in Afghanistan and Mauritania Airways deemed "unsafe".
  •    A company of Ghana, Air Lift International, has instead been allowed to resume flights to the EU with an aircraft, said the European Commission.
