Murderer of Lounes Matoub eliminated

According to the Minister of Interior Noureddine Yazid Zerhouni, the combined security services have managed to put eliminate one of the most dangerous terrorists who participated in the assassination of the Kabylian singer Lounes Matoub on 25 July 1998 in Tizi Ouzou.

• He was, according to the minister, a dangerous terrorist named Medhmoune Nacer, alias “Abdenacer”. In a declaration to Ennahar, last Wednesday, during the visit of President Bouteflika in the department of Sidi Belabes, the Minister said that security forces have succeeded in eliminating the terrorism in the region of Tizi Ouzou. On a question asked by a journalist of Ennahar about the current number of terrorist still in activity, knowing the minister had previously declared the number of 250 terrorists, and the elimination of 160 terrorists in recent months, the Minister said that until to date of today, the number was not yet precisely defined. He added that the number of terrorists eliminated was far more than the number of 160 advanced before. This was thanks to the good job conducted by security forces in the departments of Tizi Ouzou, Boumerdes and Bouira where there are very active terrorist groups of the organization El Qaeda in Islamic Maghreb. The latter tries to untie the noose around it by expanding its activities in other areas.
  
  In the same context, and according to confirmed security sources to Ennahar, the department of Blida experienced during the past few months and during the current month of suspicious movements of terrorist elements who attempt to direct their activities towards the heights of Chrea after security forces surrounded them in their strongholds in Tizi Ouzou, Boumerdes and Bouira.
