Hassan Hattab, founder of the Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat GSPC, has launched a Web site "The Site of the National Reconciliation" in order to try to persuade terrorists to leave the armed activities. This new release comes as a logical continuation of Hattab...s audio messages broadcasted through El Djazira television channel recently to members of the El Qaeda in Islamic Maghreb.

  • On his Web site, Hattab appears in photo, the Koran in his hands, accompanied by his written appeal, to his former companions of the GSPC in which he urges them to return to the truth and the right way, using Hadiths of the Prophet in an attempt to convince them.

This initiative of the founder of the GSPC, made after his recent output media which have had a great impact on the armed groups through the publication by Ennahar of his photograph and letter, then repeated by the Qatari channel El Jazira. This initiative also shows the treatment made to Hassan Hattab by the authorities who have complied with the promises of President Bouteflika. This has encouraged emirs of the armed organization to express their desire to surrender and benefit from the laws of the charter for peace and national reconciliation such as the emir Abou Tamim, emir of Katibat El Ansar who surrendered to the security services recently as well as the spokesman of El Qaida in Islamic Maghreb, Kasmi alias Salah Abou Salah Mohamed, and Abou Emir Farouk in the east who wish to benefit from this law.
