The combined security forces have dismantled yesterday, a new cell that support the terrorist organization of ...El Qaeda in Islamic Maghreb... in the border region of El Oued, composed of 04 residents of the municipalities north of the department. The members, aged between 18 and 35, including a student, according to well-informed sources, have been arrested by the security forces.

  • The student is from the village of El Jadida while the others live in the neighbourhood of El Gharib in the town of Hassi Khelifa.  They were presented to the prosecutor in Debila during the night from Saturday to Sunday and then placed in custody. They are accused of maintaining contact with one of the emirs of El Qaeda in El Oued.

According to our sources, they provided the terrorists food and means of communication. Communication took place with the appointed Abdelhafid Messaoudi. This latter tries to impose himself after the emir of the national organization has decided to substitute him with the named ‘Abou El Khebbab El Guemari’, alias Mohamed Tekia.

This cell is the first dismantled in El Oued this year after the dismantling of the majority of support cells in the second half of the year 2008. This demonstrates the awareness and availability of combined security forces to fight and prevent all terrorist activities in this period that precedes the presidential elections.

Knowing that the El Oued region experienced during the second half of 2008 the dismantling of several cells linked to El Qaida organization and also the failure of several terrorist planned operations that targeted public and private infrastructure in the region.
