The latest issue of monthly ...Afrique Magazine... (AM) in french was banned in Algeria for violating ...national values..., according to the Secretariat of State for Communication.

  •     “The latest issue of ‘Afrique Magazine’ was seized under section 07/90 of the Code of Information for violating the national values”, told the press an official of the secretariat.

Based in Paris, AM has been covered with a folder: “Algeria: the twilight of the generals.”

Questioned by the press, Zyad Limam, publisher and owner of Africa magazine has confirmed the seizure of the latest edition of his monthly Saturday at the international airport of Algiers”.

“We do not know the reasons for this seizure, but I think it's because of a report by our colleague Farid Alilat ‘the twilight of the generals’ on the relationship between President Abdelaziz Bouteflika and the principal generals of the army since 1992,” said Limam.

Mr. Limam regretted the decision and indicated that he was opposed to any censorship. “The public opinions are able to share things,” he added.

we all know that the press in Algeria is free but there's always someone somewhere who can stop an article or a newspaper because of the law or it's shortage.
