Libya: Algiers wants "greater dialogue" between the AU and Arab League

ALGIERS - Algeria wants "greater dialogue" between the AU and Arab League on the Libyan crisis, said Saturday Abdelkader Messahel, Minister for Maghreb and African Affairs.

  •    "The positions of Algeria are reflected in the roadmap" to resolve the crisis quickly in Libya, said on chain III national radio the minister who attended Friday's meeting in Addis Ababa on the Libyan crisis.
  •    For Messahel, it is important that Africans and Arabs "appropriate" their crises to "go faster toward a settlement."
  •    "The Libyan crisis is an internal matter and that it is for the Libyans to find themselves the settlement," he added.
  •    He also stressed that the implementation of resolution 1973 on the no-fly zone should be the sole responsibility of the UN and not a sub-regional organization.
  •    The positions of Algeria concerning the Libyan crisis, discussed in the Ethiopian capital are those defended at the meeting of foreign ministers of Arab countries in Cairo. They come down, he said, at several points, including the call for a cease-fire and especially the establishment of a mechanism for monitoring the cease-fire, a point not provided for in resolution 1973 of the Security Council.
  •    "We must know what is happening on the ground to see who does what," he said, also quoted by the APS.
  •    Algeria is also conducive to the initiation of an "immediate" dialogue with the various Libyan parties, support for the mission of the Monitoring Committee of the Libyan crisis and humanitarian assistance to refugees at the border.

Indeed, there should be a immediate seas fire, from all the parties, it is primordial that the internal crisis of a sovereign Nation should be resolve internally, the African and the Arab league a more then qualified for this mission, a foreign intervention opens a can of worm that my turn, on there door steps.
