Postal strike: Salary agreement and resumption of workers Sunday

ALGIERS- An agreement on an increase of 30% of base salary and a revision of the allowance system of postal workers, with resumption of work scheduled for Sunday, was signed two weeks after starting their strike which has paralyzed mail and payment of salaries and pensions, said Friday the press agency APS.

  •    Algeria Post and the Federation of postal workers and information technology and communications have signed the agreement on Thursday evening under the auspices of the Minister of Post and Information Technology and Communication (ICT) Moussa Benhamadi.
  •    According to the Federation president, Mohamed Tchoulak, the agreement provides "the application of the salary increase based on three stages, an increase of 20% from 1 July 2011, another increase of 5% From 1 January 2012 and another 5% from 1 July 2012.
  •    Compensation will also be granted for various trades and position of other measures has been adopted, including the device of the horizontal advancement in professional careers and promotion.
  •    Algerian postal workers went on strike May 28, without warning, putting in difficulty further 13 million Account holders, in particular.
