They wanted insecurity back in the region: A repentant and a self-defence element at the head of a terrorist network
The elements of the national gendarmerie of the municipalities of Hanine, Beni Ouarsous and Er-ramchi in the north of Tlemcen have succeeded in dismantling a network that supported terrorism, and provided weapons, mines and explosives. This network has a workshop weapons and powder in Tlemcen, headed by two elements of the self-defence from the villages of Ain Merika Beni Khelad and, within the town of Souk El Khemis, District of Hanine, and a former terrorist who supported terrorists in the region of Beni Ouarsous. The police found the workshop for the manufacture of weapons and cartridges filling.
- In fact, the operation took place after a member of the network has brought a mine to the gendarmerie of Hanine, trying by this action to avoid any responsibility. But this latter was also in his turn denounced by another one. The elements of the police have moved to his home located in ‘Bordj Azima’ where a workshop and weapons were found. Two firearms without permits were seized and a quantity of powder as well as 233 cartridges for shotguns.
The respondent has disclosed the names of his friends who worked as agents of self-defence in the region of Beni Khelad. The latter provided the armed groups with cartridges and powder. The accused were presented before the prosecutor of Remchi where their involvement in terrorism and terrorist groups proved and that one of them is closely related to the terrorist Belbachir Mohamed eliminated a few months ago.
According to preliminary information, the network was preparing the return of insecurity in the region of Tadjera and Sidi Sofiane so that to ensure a profit by exploiting the properties of citizens and their money.
According to sources close to the court of Remchi, the leader of the gang named (M. B.) from Beni Ouarsous, brought the explosives from the border region of Bab El-Assa where mines are brought from the Moroccan city ‘Douar’. The latter uses the contents of mines (explosives). 10 kg of TNT were seized. The investigations were extended to Bab El-Assa to investigate with several smugglers who may have relationships with the smuggling of mines from the west.
