Health: A five day Strike

The unions of Algerian practitioners of health decided Monday to pursue a strike of five days in the hospitals to get better wages, in spite of the decision of the administrative chamber of Algiers court ordering 'the interruption' of the movement, according to the APS agency.

• Five autonomous unions of health practitioners started Saturday a strike of five days in the University Hospitals. Sunday, the administrative chamber of the court of Algiers ordered the interruption of the strike with immediate application of the decision', according to APS.  
• The General Secretary of the union of health professors, Nasreddine Djidjli, indicated that his union had not received until this day any official document ordering the abeyance of the strike', according to the same source.

• 'When we will be officially informed of the abeyance of the strike, we will decide some actions to undertake', added Mr. Djidjli mentioned by the APS.  
• The president of this union organization, Zidouni Nordine, underlined 'the attachment' of the unions to their socio - professional demands, notably the revision of the wages' grid and the system of indemnification.

• Physicians from the hospitalo-academic centre of Nefissa Hammoud in Algiers affirmed that their socio - professional demands were 'legitimate' and that the strike was going to continue, according to APS.

• The assistant manager of this hospital, Fatima Idir, has on her side affirmed that the service of the emergencies functioned, but that the medical consultations were suspended, exception is made for the patients who come from distant regions, according to the same source.  
• The autonomous unions claim the increases of wage and the improvement of the work conditions.

• According to the unions and the newspapers of Monday, this strike is widely followed in the hospitals of the country. The ministry of Health indicated Saturday in a communiqué that the rate of involvement to the strike was about 4,76% at the national level.
