Heat Wave: Rush on air conditioners
Algiers- The heat wave that gripped the country in recent days has pushed many Algerians to purchase air conditioners despite the price that is not accessible to everyone.
- Many families, who do not have air conditioning, have spent sleepless nights because of the heat. Others try by any means to afford an air conditioner despite the high price for small budgets.
- Discussions revolve around the weather, but especially the need for an air conditioner at home, for others, the fan does the job, waiting for better days.
- During our tour of the markets in Algiers, like that of El Hamiz which is very popular for availability of goods and lower prices, we saw many people carrying air conditioners or fans they have bought to face summer nights in this hot July.
- Salim told us: "I have to buy one because of the unbearable heat. I saved to buy parts for my car but I found myself compelled to buy an air conditioner instead.Well, the car can wait for another time."
- Less lucky Zoheir bought a fan because his savings are not enough. This told us that he wanted to buy with ease but has not found.
- If Salim was able to afford an air conditioner, and if Zoheir simply bought a fan, many Algerians have neither the one nor the other, they arm themselves with patience until the end of the summer to address winter and its inconvenience.
