The Embassy of Algeria in Tripoli sacked

- According to the spokesman Amar Belani quoted by news agency APS, the Algerian foreign minister Mourad Medelci sent an "urgent" correspondence to the Secretary General of the UN to "draw attention to violations of the Algerian diplomatic enclosure "
- Medelci asked the Secretary General of the UN "to take the necessary measures by the UN system to ensure the protection of diplomats and Algerian mission premises and its property in accordance with the rules of the international law, "said the source.
- The spokesman added that the ministry was in "permanent" contact with the Algerian diplomatic representatives in Tripoli to ensure their safety and that of Algerian nationals who chose to stay in Libya.
- Algeria, which shares a long border with Libya did not recognize the Libyan National Transitional Council (CNT) and has never formally requested the departure of Muammar Gaddafi.
