Benhamadi Moussa, Minister of Post and Information Technology and Communication, said that Algeria Telecom plans to launch an AT tender for internet TV (IPTV), and continuous the development of FTTX technology, involving the installation of fibre optic with high-speed capacity up to 100 mega bits per second to homes.
In a statement yesterday on the sidelines of a working visit in the province of Guelma, the Minister has indicated the existence of an agreement between the Department of Housing and his department for the installation of mobile networks and broadband Internet and sophisticated equipment to replace the parabola disfiguring our cities and towns. This project, the minister said, is about to be realized in the province of Medea and will soon be extended to all the provinces of the country, particularly in the context of new promotional and social housing projects.
The receiver of these housing will have to pay for these facilities included in the price of housing in order to benefit from these modern services that are mobile telephony and Internet.
For Mr. Benhamadi, citizens will certainly welcome the increase if they know they will have access to these services that are Internet and telecommunications without interruption. These charges, he says, will only be symbolic and will essentially cover the cost of the project.
