Oran: The Imam of ...Ali Bin Abi Taleb... mosque suspended

According to credible sources, the Directorate of Religious Affairs of Oran has convened yesterday evening the Imam of ...Ali bin Abi Taleb... mosque, located in the popular neighbourhood ...El hemri... after information that the latter sold at auction some items that were donated to the mosque by citizens, which has raised the anger of the citizens including those used to the mosque.

• This situation has prompted the religious authorities to take action against the Imam by freezing his salary.
  
  Furthermore, according to the same sources, the respondent, who is a volunteer imam, was engaged in this practice in order to feed the coffers of the mosque while the texts of the law prohibit such practices, which have become widespread, as that which happened at a well known mosque in the ‘Seddikia’ neighbourhood, where women objects have been sold.
  
  Following these practices that show the excesses in the houses of God, some people well informed of the sector, have confirmed that these practices are the result of poor management of religious affairs direction which relies heavily on volunteers (648 volunteers) among whom (280 women volunteers). This situation has caused this chaos and disorder in the sector.
  
  This situation has led the Directorate of Religious Affairs to revise its sector by lowering the number of volunteers and being rigorous in issuing approvals.
