The daily newspaper 'Ennahar is published, in Algiers, by 'El Athir For the Press' limited Enterprise, property of the two journalists Mr. Anis Rahmani and Souad Azzouz. This newspaper is considered as being the first independent daily in Algeria, published by journalists who have never worked in the sector of the state-controlled press. It is therefore an enterprise of information, fully-fledged property of these two journalists, contrary to the other titles of the Algerian press.
'Ennahar' does not follow any political party nor it is dependant on any finances, business or power clans.
Anis Rahmani is in charge of the edition of the daily newspaper, whereas his colleague Souad Azzouz directs the writing staff.
Anis Rahmani has already been responsible of the edition of Algerian press in 1992; he has directed the office of the Pakistani magazine 'International Affairs' in Algeria, and this, until 1998, period during which he also had to assume the responsibility of the weekly Lebanese 'El Moustakila'. In May 1997, he joined the Algerian press, with as first step ' El Khabar' daily newspaper where he worked until January 2006, then he joined 'Ech-chourouk El youmi' where he occupied the post of editor-in-chief's until October 2007, date of the release of the daily 'Ennara' to which he was one of the founding members. In parallel, he was chief of office of the daily 'El Hayat' appearing in London. He is the author of a book entitled 'The Afghans of Algeria, from the Djamaâ to Al Qaida' published by the National Agency of Editions and Advertisement ANEP in May 2002.
During this time, his colleague Souad Azzouz, achieved big reports in 'El Khabar' covering the period between 1995 and 2007, period where she knew how to resuscitate the Algerian public opinion with a big number of files, subjects of reports which made the glory of the daily 'El Khabar' such as the file of the wages of important personalities of the state, which has cause a polemic pushing even General Mohamed El Amari, Head of the National Popular Army, to answer journalists and to exhibit his salary card. She was also behind the interview with General El Amari, published in 'El Khabar'. An interview, of such an importance, and in which a military in his post, expressedمنتدى المسيحى الجريء himself about the last decade. She was also known for the big files and the big reports covering the sectors of agriculture and health. These important sectors interested a lot the national opinion during those years.
Then, she joined 'Ech-chourouk El Youmi' in the beginning of year 2007 where she occupied the same responsibility until the release of 'Ennahar El Djadid' in October 2007. She was quickly known for her writings and her reports by which she succeeded in breaking the taboos of information while publishing an article on the General Smaïl El Amari, second man in the Algerian military security, based on the testimonies of his relatives and his friends. An article which she published, for the first time, with the photograph of the deceased General, which was then, forbidden for the Algerian press.
The first number of 'Ennahar El Djadid' appeared on November 1, 2007 with a first pull of 60 thousand copies per day.
'Ennahar El Djadid' is composed of a young journalist team formed in the Algerian university, representatives of all the cities of the country, in addition to an important network of correspondents that permanently provides the matter of information on the situation in all the Departments.
The pull of 'Ennahar El Djadid' is done by four printing houses, Algiers, Oran, Constantine and Ourgla, with a global daily pull of 120 thousand copies.
The mother enterprise 'El Athir for the Press' publishes also, the weekly 'Ennahar El Mouhtarif', sporty weekly appearing on every Saturday and 'Ennahar Nour', a specialized cultural and social weekly magazine dealing with the world of the stars and the phenomena of the society.
At its first year, 'Ennahar El Djadid' succeeded in getting a place in the world of information, essentially in the domains and security and politics. Thing which made it occupies the first place, without dispute, in bringing the information from its first source.
