Ould Abbas: The State will help families who agree to care for elderly

The Minister of National Solidarity and the Algerian community abroad has reiterated yesterday in Tizi Ouzou, the readiness of State assistance to families who would be ready to get back one of its members put into a center for the elderly.

  • Previously, Ould Abbas had visited the rest home and people with disabilities in their center Boukhalfa in Tizi Ouzou to ascertain the conditions of care for the tenants before giving instructions to the personnel of the sector. These latter will have to contact the families of the elderly in order to be reintegrated in their families. “Whatever the efforts made by the state in this context, they can never replace the family warmth,” he said.

    According to information provided to the Minister, four out of the 73 who reside in the centre, were finally back in their families while eight others have benefited from a short stay with their families.

    In addition, the Minister reiterated the commitment of the state to financially support any mother who expresses his desire to reclaim her child, as part of its encouragement to the efforts made by the nursery of Boukhalfa.

    Twelve biological mothers have already recovered their children in 2008 according to the minister of national solidarity. “Thanks to the psychological and educational work carried out in this framework” he added.
     
    Algeria records an average of 3000 illegitimate births per year according to the same sources.
