Morocco - The classic derby Widad - Raja at the top of the 26th day
The 106th classic derby will oppose Sunday teams of Widad and Raja Casablanca, which is determined to prevail in order to consolidate its leading position at the 26th day of the Moroccan championship.
- More than 60,000 people are expected to attend the planned meeting at Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca, according to the press.
The newspaper L'Opinion expressed its wish that this meeting takes place in a healthy atmosphere, friendliness, banishing the anti-sports.
The federation has initiated a public awareness campaign calling Reds (Widad) and the Greens (Raja) to promote sportsmanship and ban violence and hooliganism, said the newspaper.
Incidents that had punctuated this derby in 2007, when supporters of both teams in particular had caused material damage in the streets near the stadium.
Raja Casablanca, nicknamed the ‘green devils’, occupies the 1st place in ranking with 51 points before the club FAR Rabat (2nd, 42 points), El Jadida (3rd, 41 points) and Widad (4th, 40 points).
The Moroccan press has estimated on Friday that even if Raja is leading with ten points ahead of the title is still ‘playable’ at five days before the end of the national championship.
According to ‘Le Matin,’ a defeat of Raja before the Widad – who just qualified for the final of the Arab Champions League - could play on the moral of the (Green) and restart the championship.
