Platini is conducting a backstage war against Algeria
According to knowledgeable sources, the European Union of football (UEFA) with at its head its chairman, former French international Michel Platini, is conducting a campaign against the Algerian project to be proposed for discussion at the meeting of FIFA in the Bahamas...
- …The project, related to the situation of double nationalities players over 21 who wish to play with the selections of their countries of origin after having carried the colours of other clubs.
According to the same sources, Platini who chairs the UEFA, works with all European leagues under the auspices of UEFA, to eliminate the project proposed by the Algerian football federation FAF, which will be on the agenda for discussion at the congress of FIFA.
The opposition of European countries to this project comes as a result of their fear of losing a lot of foreign football talents from Africa and South America who have made the joy of their supporters on the old continent.
The Algerian project, adopted by several countries, affected by the rules of FIFA, which prevents them to strengthen their teams by players over 21 who have not been summoned by their selections.
If the project comes to be adopted by the FIFA, Algeria will be a major beneficiary as this will allow her to recover several players playing in great European clubs such as Meguenni and Yebda and other football stars who have lost their selections after the national team of France has marginalized them.
The player Meguenni, who plays in Italy, had issued, in an interview, his great desire to wear the colours of the National team which is back on the international scene after the good results achieved by the players of Saâdane at the African qualifications for World Cup in South Africa next year.
The project in question excluded players who have worn the colours of the top clubs after the age of 21 and can not change, such as Kamel Meriem who had turned his back to the greens before, after having been predicted to replace Zidane in the French National team but had been marginalized.
It should be noted that Algeria has succeeded, with some countries, to change certain laws relating to the FIFA players with dual nationality, which enabled her to claim the services of some players, like Samir Belloufa and Nacerddine Ouadhah before the African cup of nations in 2004 in Tunisia.
