Belhadj signs for Portsmouth
The Algerian international left side of Lens football club (League 2) Nadir Belhadj, loaned from the beginning of the season to Portsmouth (1st England...s div.) signed on Tuesday a contract of four years and a half for the English team, announced the club on its website.
- Belhadj, 26, has impressed since his arrival in Premier League and is now linked with Portsmouth (ranking 12th) until 2013. Lens recovered 4.5 million euros in compensation for the transfer, announced Portsmouth.
"We are very pleased to have recruited Nadir. He's fast, energetic and has a good quality in center. It is an excellent acquisition for the club," said Tony Adams, the manager of Portsmouth.
After Sedan, Lyon and Lens, "Pompey" is the fourth career club of Belhadj who has played 23 meetings in all competitions since his arrival in south-west England and scored two goals. He is the undisputed holder of the post left back.
He will be officially a Portsmouth player from 1st January 2009. - Ennahar/ M. Oudina
