Mohamed Belhadj, new president of Algerian Olympic Committee

Mohamed Belhadj has been elected new president of the Algerian Olympic Committee (COA), Thursday in the closing of the general elective assembly held in Algiers-based headquarters of the Olympic body.

  • Mohamed Belhadj, outgoing president of the Algerian Federation of School Sports (FASS), was the sole candidate standing for the position. COA new president got 47 voices (3 of Olympic federations which detain four voices each and 35 of the non-Olympic federations which detain one only voice.

  • Four void ballots have been recorded. Mohamed Belhadj, 54, who has been elected for four-year term, replaces former president Mustapha Berraf. Members of the General Assembly are electing the executive bureau of COA which includes 13 members, including 8 representing Olympic federations, 4 non Olympic federations and female federation.
