- Algeria's medal score, in the Mediterranean Games of Pescara, Italy, has increased with the gold medals snatched Thursday by Hamani Rachid (boxing-75 kg) and Antar Zerguelaine (athletics, 1500 m), raising Algerian athletes' medal haul to 10.
- In boxing, Hamani won Algeria's first gold medal by beating Turkish Killic (7-5), while Benchabla and Ouradi snatched silver medals one day after Algerian pugilists won three bronze medals.
